I’m a Dutch photographer and writer focused on (post) conflict and armed resistance. I have worked all over Ukraine since the very beginning of the war, documenting life in the trenches, the civilian impact and innovation in military technology. I spent most of my days based in the eastern Donbas region. While in Ukraine I am the regular freelance correspondent for newspaper Nederlands Dagblad. As a photographer, I’m represented by photo bank De Beeldunie.
I have worked in Kurdistan, Iraq, Myanmar, Ethiopia and Palestine. Before I started my work as journalist, I studied briefly Fine Arts at Minerva Academy in Groningen. After this, I finished my bachelor of Cultural Anthropology in Utrecht.
